Mrs. Lena Mae Warnell Barnard, 84, passed away peacefully at her residence after a long illness on Tuesday morning, August 15, 2017. Mrs. Barnard was born on September 29, 1932 to the late William E. Warnell, Sr. and Annie Laurie Davis in Statesboro. She was a native of Bulloch County where she lived most of her life; she enjoyed fishing, playing cards and the outdoors. Mrs. Barnard worked for Roger Wood Foods, Inc. in Savannah and the local grocery story in Pembroke as a meat wrapper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robie Wilton Barnard; daughter, Faye NeSmith; two brothers, William and Daniel Warnell and one great grandchild, Kayla Barnard.
Survivors include two children, Susan Cowart (Willie) of Brooklet, Eddie Barnard (Pat) of Pembroke; son-in-law, Randall NeSmith of Portal; six grandchildren, Emily Cowart and Will Crosby of Brooklet, Chip Barnard and Ginger White of Brooklet, Toni Barnard of Pembroke, Phillip NeSmith of Metter, Robbie and Kristi NeSmith of Brooklet and Jaimie Davis and Clay Williams of Portal; 11 great grandchildren, Katie Jones, Victoria Hendley, Hannah Barnard, Peyton Barnard, Harley Barnard, Kendell Knight, Charlie Knight, Jesse Knight, Mackenzie Davis, Caly Williams and J.R. NeSmith and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Barnard’s Caregivers, Tiffany and J.C. Pollett and the staff at Ogeechee Area Hospice.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.
Memorial Graveside service will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Lawrence Baptist Church Cemetery.
