Anthony Joseph Pecoraro, Sr.January 30, 1945 ~ October 2, 2017 (age 72)
Ellabell- Anthony Joseph Pecoraro, Sr., age 72 passed away Monday, October 2, 2017. Mr. Pecoraro was born and raised in New Orleans, LA to the late Vincent and Felicie Pecoraro and graduated from Delgado Trade School. Tony was the youngest assistant buyer at Krauss Department Store, the iconic department store of New Orleans. He began his fifteen-year career with Ingersoll-Rand Company managing warehouses in Dallas, Memphis, Atlanta and Connecticut. In Connecticut he negotiated numerous UAW yearly contracts. While in Connecticut, he partnered with a very good friend and formed an equipment rental company that morphed into a private contracting for the Connecticut Natural Gas Company. After working for various copier companies and being the entrepreneur that he was, he began two copier businesses with his best man in addition to acquiring a brokerage firm.
Tony’s favorite holiday was Christmas. He wanted everyone to be able to enjoy the holiday, so he would dress up as Santa with his wife, Pam, as his elf. They would visit convalescent home and hospitals with gifts to give out. Tony once said it was amazing to see the sparkle in the eyes of the elderly that was as bright that of a child. In addition to the Christmas holiday, Tony also loved jazz, golf, cooking and politics in almost every city he lived.
Tony worked on two presidential campaigns, two mayoral campaigns, was a commissioner on the inland Wetland Agency and Conservation Commission, and was a member of the chamber of commerce. As a member of the Project D.A.R.E. program, Tony worked closely with the police department and the children.
Tony and his wife of 40 years have lived CT, MN, NC and ended up in Savannah and Ellabell. Savannah is a lot like Tony’s home, in his heart the city of New Orleans.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pamela Pecoraro; his old flame “BB” Benita Barnard; two children, Anthony Pecoraro, Jr. and Felicie Pecoraro Daglis; brother, Vincent Pecoraro; his favorite cousin, Pete Voltolina; cousins Rhonda Lindsay Muller, Joe Diecidue, Joe and Rudy Zabolusky; Auntie Claire Kehoe; close friends, Dave and Pat Franzosa, Pete Bartolotta, Chuck and Mary Ruppert; Aunt Dee and Uncle Manny Bordonaro and his furry children, Sadie Ann, Buster Ushman and Willie Pep.
