Mrs. Hazel Louise Harn Underwood, 83, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Hospice of Savannah. Mrs. Underwood was born in Claxton on July 26, 1935 to the late Fonnie Harn and Maxie Harn Wrye. She worked as a bus driver for Effingham County for 18 years then started her own non-emergency transport business, Need-A-Ride for 10 years and later work as a home health nurse. Mrs. Underwood loved helping and caring for others and was very proud of her business that she built from the ground up. She loved her dog, Sparky and grand dog, Bree, she loved all her cats and taking care of them and enjoyed cutting grass and tending to her flowers. Mrs. Underwood was a member of the Eastern Star and has strong Christian views and loved to talk about God and the Bible.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Underwood; son, Louis Underwood; daughter, Treva Wood; brothers, Wilbur Harn and Clyde Harn and sister, Doris Jipp.
Survivors include three daughters, Wanda F. Futch, Angel Underwood and Dawn Underwood; sister, Dorothy Parker of Gray, GA; grandchildren, Tabitha Futch, Kevin Futch (Alicia), Mark Futch (Jessica), Matthew Futch, Sheena Way (Jay), Celeste Wood, Stanley Underwood, Jackie Underwood, Kross Underwood, Haze Seibert and Pierce Lindsey; great grandchildren, Kevin Futch, Jr., Josh Futch, Jasmine Futch, Izzy Futch, Alex Futch, Earl Jay Way, IV., Abigail Morgan, Annabell Morgan, Macay Way, Layla Williams, Evan Underwood, Earl Lunsford and Lawton Lunsford.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 10 – 12 pm at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.
Funeral service will follow at 12 pm in the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Meldrim.
