Mr. James Bernard Kochanik, 69, passed away suddenly at Memorial Hospital on Thursday, July 25, 2019. Mr. Kochanik was born on September 23, 1949 to the late Bernard and Joyce Doreen Ott Kochanik in Milwaukee, Wi. Following high school, Mr. Kochanik joined the U.S. Navy and served as a sonar technician during the Vietnam War. Later, he worked for Unisys as a computer engineer for 24 years before retiring, and was currently working for Pinellas County School Board as a paraprofessional for over 14 years where he also served as the Pinellas County Teacher Association Support Staff Representative for 6 years. He was a member of Cathedral of the St. Jude the Apostle in Saint Petersburg, Fl and of the United States Soccer Federation. Mr. Kochanik enjoyed playing and refereeing soccer and also enjoyed fishing where he was known as the “Silent Slayer”.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Michael James Kochanik.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Michele Juaire Kochanik; daughter, Kristen Michele Kochanik Garza and her husband Anthony Robert of Saint Petersburg, Fl; two brothers, William Steven Kochanik and his wife Nancy of Savannah and Randall W. Kochanik and his wife Evelyn of Chambersburg, Pa; sister, Kathleen Kochanik Limoli and her husband Bernard of Saint Petersburg, Fl; two grandchildren, Michael Anthony Garza and Aria Michele Garza both of Saint Petersburg, Fl and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
