Ellabell- Jay Leon Utley, age 59 passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Candler Hospital. Mr. Utley was born in Durham, NC on May 2, 1959 to the late Herbert and Marian Utley. In 1964, he and his family moved to Bulloch County where he attended Southeast Bulloch Schools and graduate from Savannah Technical College. Mr. Utley retired from Georgia Pacific after 23 years of dedicated service and later retired from Kelly Oil as a truck driver with 15 years of service.
Mr. Utley was an avid fisherman, hunter and was a faithful member of Eldora Baptist Church. He enjoyed cutting grass on his tractor, especially when he could ride one of the grandchildren. They were the apple of his eye. In addition to his parents, Mr. Utley was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Utley.
Survivors include his loving wife, best friend and soul mate for 37 years, Angela “Angie” Davis Utley of Ellabell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Michael Yarbrough of Ellabell and Tonya and Troy Redmond of Ellabell; four wonderful grandchildren, Noella Redmond, Jaymeson Redmond, Nevaeh Yarbrough and Espn Yarbrough; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marla and Jim Lewis, Joe Davis and Bonnie Glisson, John (Chip) and Wanda Davis, Frieda and Robert Spivy, Donna and Keith Starling, Cynthia and Keith Stevens, Sheryl and Chris Owens and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 24 at Eldora Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Howard officiating.
