Mrs. Linda J. Shuman Sims, age 71 passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at her home while surrounded by her family. Mrs. Sims was born in Pembroke on June 19, 1946 to the late Sam B. and Nellie Strickland Shuman. She was a graduate of Bryan County High School and served as receptionist for the high school for many years. Mrs. Sims was an excellent cook, especially her baking and was an avid gardener. She loved to travel to the mountains and the beach and loved her Beulah Baptist Church family.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Dewey Sims of Black Creek; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Malissa Sims of Ellabell, daughter Stephanie Sims and her companion, Shawn Cornell both of Pembroke; grandson Dalton Sims and his companion, McKenzie Smith both of Black Creek; great grandson Jesse Smith; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Vernon and Tera Sims of Black Creek, Clara Nell Sims of Black Creek, Pat Akins of Black Creek and Willie Hodges of Hinesville; best friends Dianne Futch and Becky Davis; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and her dog, Charlie.
Visitation will be held 6-9 P.M. Friday, May 18, 2018 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Bryant and Rev. Franklin Wildes officiating. Interment will follow in Lower Black Creek Cemetery.
