Mr. Obed Eugene Pierce, Sr., 89, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Southern Manor Senior Living. Mr. Pierce was born on July 14, 1930 to the late Talmadge Benjamin and Effie Lou McDaniel Pierce in Tarrytown, GA. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later became a supervisor at Dublin Plywood Mill with over 14 years of service and then worked as a cashier and greeter at Fuqua’s Price Rite. Mr. Pierce enjoyed doing search word puzzles, bird watching, waving at people as they would pass by, he never met a stranger and his greatest loves were family and God. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 1609 in Dublin and also a member Olivet Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Virginia Caudill Pierce; one brother, Talmadge B. Pierce, Jr. and sister, Mary Ruth Pierce Fuqua.
Survivors include one son, Obed Eugene Pierce, Jr. and his wife Betty of Rentz, GA; daughter, Debra Miles and her husband Jimmie, Jr. of Pembroke; sister, Lizzie Ethel P. Kielwein of Beaufort, SC; four grandchildren, Tina Miles Myers and her husband Chris, Kimberly Miles Jackson and her husband Michael, Amanda Phillips and her husband Raymond and Jessica Pierce; four great grandchildren, Camden Myers, Claire Myers, Rossi Jackson and Noah Messenger and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 11:00 – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.
Memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Albert Hill officiating.
Burial will be private.
